FAQs

  • Therapy services can vary in length and frequency depending on your needs and schedule. This should be determined collaboratively between you and your therapist, and evaluated throughout the course of therapy. Sessions can be every week or every other week and can be scheduled for the following amounts of time:

    50 to 55-minute sessions

90-minute sessions (ideal for couple or family sessions)

  • Payment is made by credit card through our online booking platform. As of June 1, 2024, the rate for a 50-minute psychotherapy session is $195 and the rate for a 90-minute psychotherapy session is $290.

  • We believe that high quality psychotherapy should not be a financial privilege. To make our services more accessible, we offer a limited number of reduced-fee arrangements. Reach out directly to Allen or Andie for more information about this option.

  • We do not accept payment via insurance providers for any services at Illuminated Mind Therapy Center. Although our services are considered out-of-network, we can provide you with a monthly invoice of services to submit to your insurance company. This monthly invoice is called a superbill. Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Please check your coverage with your insurance provider carefully by asking the following questions:

Do I have mental health insurance benefits? Do these benefits reimburse out-of-network behavioral health care?

How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?

What is the coverage amount per therapy session?

Is approval required from my primary care physician?

  • When we schedule an appointment, we set aside that time specifically for you. If a conflict arises in your schedule, we ask for 48 hours notice to cancel or change appointments to avoid being charged the full fee for the session.

  • Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services verbally and in writing.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises. Please email or call us directly with any billing questions or to obtain a Good Faith Estimate for therapy services.
